What is a JSON to CSV Converter?
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) stores data as nested key–value structures, which is ideal for APIs and apps but hard to analyse in a spreadsheet. CSV (Comma-Separated Values) is a flat, row-and-column text format understood by Excel, Google Sheets, databases and BI tools. A JSON to CSV converter maps each JSON object to a row and each key to a column.
Nested JSON flattening explained
With Flatten Nested Objects on, JSONToCSV walks every nested object and joins keys with dots. For example {"user":{"address":{"city":"Paris"}}} becomes a column named user.address.city. Arrays become indexed columns like tags.0, tags.1. Turn it off to keep nested structures as compact JSON strings in a single cell.
Proper CSV escaping (RFC 4180)
Any value containing the chosen delimiter, a double quote, a line break or leading/trailing spaces is wrapped in double quotes, and inner quotes are doubled (" → ""). Columns are collected from every object, so records with missing keys simply get empty cells.
